Mohamed Siddiq Al-Minshawi (1920–1969) was one of the most famous and beloved Quran reciters. He was known for his emotional recitation style and mastery of maqamat (melodic modes). Born in Sohag, Egypt, he memorized the Quran at the age of eight and grew up in a renowned Quranic family. His father, Sheikh Siddiq Al-Minshawi, taught him the art of recitation. He became famous for his deeply moving voice and was nicknamed "The Weeping Voice".
